Wow, time has really changed us, but I can remember this like it was yesterday.
We got married on Dec. 20th. I wanted a Christmas themed wedding. I was pleased that their "was" snow on the ground, but it wasn't the beautiful winter wonderland I'd envisoned. Instead, it was freezing, and so there was frozen snow plied up everywhere, You know the kind that all slushy?
But, We still had
Red Poinsettieas, Bouquets of Red Roses and pink Carnantions, A large Christmas tree and a fire in the fireplace at the reception.
We had only met 6 weeks prior. That wasn't alot of time to put together a wedding for 200 people, but I tell ya what, when you count on family and friends to "throw together a wedding" for you, they REALLY stepped up and amazed me.
Our wedding wasn't anything like you see these days. Young couples spend a FORTUNE on their weddings now. We were much more practical and wanted to save our money towards our future. Family and friends made all the food for the reception (But, I come from a line of great cooks!) I wouldn't change any of it for all the flowers in holland. We had a great time, and were just happy to be able to be together.
But, 35 years later, 2 grown kids and 4 grandchildren later, we feel so blessed to have gone down this road together. Mostly good times, and a few...not so good, (no one comes this far, raising a family, losing loved ones, etc. without a "few" rough spots) but having each other to work through them together has been my saving grace. He is my best friend and I will always be his....
And now here we are, 35 years later, Retired, LOVE spending time with the grandchilden and kids. We travel south during the winters and spend them in the sun. He golfing and me riding horses. Who could ask for more?
Happy anniversary.

ReplyDeleteAwww, how very sweet Betsy...I know I'm a little late but, Happy Anniversary! Much happiness to both of you always. You were and still are a super cute couple :-) Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Oh, almost forgot...in your last comment you left me, you wanted to know how I had added the frame to my pictures...Well, I used a photoshop program to add a picture of a frame I found to my own pictures...It's a process of cutting and pasting. Love that photoshop program. Hope that answered your question. Have a wonderful new week and new year.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses,
